Eight missing following cargo ship and fishing vessel collision

On 9 November, a cargo ship collided with a fishing vessel in waters east of Weihai city, Shandong province, China, leaving eight people from the fishing vessel missing.
Authorities reported that the fishing boat, registered in Liaoning and the cargo ship, registered in Shanghai, collided approximately 3.5 nautical miles east of Shandong province. The fishing boat sank following the collision, while the cargo vessel remained unaffected, Anadolu reports.
Registration records indicate that the fishing boat had nine people aboard when it departed from port, according to Global Times. As explained, rescue efforts have been launched using vessels, helicopters and nearby commercial and fishing boats.
As of the latest update, one person has been rescued and is in stable condition, while eight others remain missing as search-and-rescue operations continue.
