Serving Department of Defence, Australia as a Naval Architect and living in Canberra with his wife Rokeya Rashid, daughter Tasfia Humayra Rashid and son Ryan Abdur Rashid. He has completed both B. Eng (Ocean Engineering) and B. Eng (Naval Architecture) with First Class Honours from Australian Maritime College and have been awarded Captain Thomas Sowanson prize, for being the best engineering student for any engineering course in 2000. The prize is named after one of the pioneer/founder of the maritime education in Australia, Captain Thomas Sowanson.
