He attended Naogaon Zilla School (SSC 1972); Rajshahi College (HSC 1974); Rajshahi University (BCom 1984) and Institute of Business Administration, University of Dhaka (MBA 1988). He did his PhD from Manchester Business School, University of Manchester, UK in 1997 on a British Commonwealth Scholarship. He resides in Green Road with his wife Nazneen Ahsan (21/12/89) and kids Nibirh Jawad ( 04/10/90), Oishik Jawad (20/05/97) and Alisa Jawad Sudipta (07/12/99).
