- In UK. Serving Bahamas Maritime Authority as a Deputy Director. He attended Comilla Zilla School (1959) and Faujderhat Cadet College (1961). Obtained MSc. from World Maritime University, Sweden in 1988. Started his sea career with Pan-Islamic Steam Ship as a Deck Cadet in 1963. During Liberation war he left Pakistan, while he was Chief Officer on board pilgrim ship MV. Safina-E-Arab, later resumed his sea career with Bangladesh Shipping Corporation. Immediately after liberation of Bangladesh he worked with the Russian Salvage Team to clear the port of Chittagong and make it operational, and then served for a brief period as an Assistant Harbour Master, Chittagong. He served the Bangladesh Shipping Corporation as a Manager and then as Technical Director. He served the Marine Academy as an Instructor and then as the Commandant. He served the Department of Shipping as Chief Nautical Surveyor and then as the Director General. He also served Bangladesh Navy as a Reserve Naval Officer and attained the rank of Actg. Commander, and commanded the auxiliary naval ship BNS Shaheed Salahuddin. In 1991, Capt. Rahman joined the Marine Division of the Department of Transport, UK as a Nautical Surveyor and Examiner. In 1997 he was promoted as the Deputy Chief Examiner of the newly formed Maritime & Coastguard Agency, UK. He spent over four years as Maritime Administrator in Gibraltar. In 2004 he returned UK to join the Bahamas Maritime Authority. Capt. Rahman is an IMO field consultant and has carried out many missions abroad to advise developing countries on modernisation of legislation and administration. He is a Visiting Professor of the World Maritime University. He is residing Essex with his wife Nurjehan. His daughter Farzana obtained LLB (Hons.) and LLM, and is married to Faisal. Son Shahed has recently obtained BBA (Hons.). Capt. Rahman's two younger brothers Capt. Mizanur Rahman and Capt. Mahbubur Rahman are also Master Mariners.
