Captain Shams uz Zaman , 11th batch no more……..

Captain Shams uz zaman (11N) passed away in Dhaka on August 27, 2022, at about 1130 BDT in Geen Life hospital. Inna lillahe wa inna elaihe rajeun. May Allah SWT grant him Jannatul Firdous.

On May 8, 2021, we published an article about Captain Shams uz Zaman 11N returning home after treatment in a Chennai hospital in India. Captain Ghulam Hussain 11N kept everyone apprised regarding his ailment (stomach cancer) that Captain Shams uz Zaman describes as a “bolt from the blue”. The information provided by the doctors was scanty and confusing. Apparently, this happened because there was a change of doctors during which time they made some mistakes in diagnosing the disease both in Dhaka and Chennai. Later, he went for corrective action. After two weeks of chemotherapy in Dhaka, his wife and Captain Zaman moved to Apollo hospital in Chennai. They stayed in Chennai for about two months. After required treatments and procedures, the oncologists determined issues that needed their attention in the treatment of the disease was taken care of. That he did not need to come back for a follow-up visit. They left Chennai on May 3, 2021.

Captain Sham uz Zaman authored books and regularly wrote in newspapers and magazines regarding various maritime issues. All his friends describe him as a jovial and hearty individual with a lot of talent. Our community will miss a great individual. We can only pray to Allah for his place in the Jannat ul Ferdaus. He has certainly reached a peaceful abode.

ক্যাপ্টেন শামসুজ্জামান স্যারের রুহের মাগফেরাত কামনা করছি এবং তার শোকসন্তপ্ত পরিবারের প্রতি গভীর সমবেদনা জ্ঞাপন করছি।

আর কখনো শুনতে পারবো না স্যারের ভরাট কন্ঠের টেলিফোনের ডাক “রঞ্জন, একটা মেইল লিখেছি, এপ্রুভ করে দাও।” শ্রদ্ধেয় শামসুজ্জামান স্যার বাংলাদেশী মেরিনারদের সমসাময়িক বিভিন্ন সমস্যা, দেশের মেরিন সেক্টরের উন্নতি, পায়রা সমুদ্র বন্দরের উন্নয়নের জন্য তার চিন্তাভাবনা এবং আরও বিভিন্ন আর্টিকেল লিখে এবং মেরিন কমিউনিটির অফিসারদের সম্মান উন্নতি করনের জন্য যথেষ্ট শ্রম এবং মেধা দিয়েছিলেন। মেরি নারদের সে কখনোই “জাহাজী ওয়ালা/জাহাজী” বলতে দিতে চাইতেন না এবং কেউ এটা বললে সেখানে উনি বলিষ্ঠ কন্ঠে তার বিরোধিতা করে গিয়েছেন।

স্যারের লেখা বই, “নুনকি একটি তারার নাম” মেরিন সহ বাংলাদেশি সাধারণ নাগরিকদের মনে অনেক দিন গেঁথে রবে। আজ সেই নুনকি তারাটির মতো আমাদের শ্রদ্ধেয় প্রিয় স্যার একটি তারার মতো আমাদের ছেড়ে অনেক দূরে সেই আকাশে চলে গেলেন।

আল্লাহতালার কাছে স্যার আপনার জান্নাতুল ফেরদৌস নসিবের জন্য আমরা সবাই দোয়া প্রার্থনা করি। রব্বুল আলামিন আপনার জীবনের সকল গুনাহ খাতা ক্ষমা করে দিক এবং আপনাকে জান্নাতুল ফেরদৌসের বাসিন্দা করে দিক। আমীন।
