Worker dies, 5 hurt in Sitakunda shipbreaking yard blast

A worker was killed and five others were injured in a fire triggered by an explosion at a shipbreaking yard in Sitakunda upazila of Chattogram this morning. 

Six workers were injured when a gas cylinder exploded at Mahinur Shipbreaking Yard in Baro Aulia area in Sitakunda around 8:00am, our Chattogram correspondent reports quoting Assistant Sub-Inspector Alauddin Talukder of Chattogram Medical College Hospital police outpost.

The injured were rushed to CMCH but one of them, Rubel, succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital, the ASI said.

The explosion occurred when the workers were dismantling an old ship, he added.
