Engineer Sajid Hussain has been appointed at the Commandant of the Matrine Academy Chittagong replacing Commodore M. Maqsumul Quader .

 

He previously served at the Chief Engineer Marine Academy from 1995 to 2005. His immediate past position was the Executive Director of Western Marine Services.

 

Leaving the Academy in August 2005, he served as the General manager of  A K Ship Management and Services (Pvt) Ltd, Chittagong until August 2006.

 

Amongst his achievements; he founded the MAS Maritime Academy in September 2006.

He graduated with a Msc degree in Maritime Safety Administration (Marine Engineering) from World Maritime University, Malmo, Sweden, under ITF Fellowship in December 1998.

He is a Maritime Expert/Consultant of IMO & GlobalMET, Council Member of the IMarEST International HQ – London.

The Honorary Secretary of the IMarEST Bangladesh Branch [IMarEST – Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology].

Born on 1st September 1959 at Pabna (only son of Adv. Amjad Hussain, Ex-MP & Prof. Jannatul Ferdous, Ex-MP); attended Pabna Liakat Nazir High School (renamed later as Selim Nazir High School) in class Infant to II (1964-1966) and Pabna Zilla School in class III to VII (1967-72).

Then attended Rajshahi Cadet College and passed SSC in 1976 with 3rd Position and HSC in 1978 with star marks. Completed his Pre-Sea Marine Engineering in the Marine Academy, Chittagong (1978-82) and graduated with 1st Class – 2nd position. Commenced sea-career in Bangladesh Shipping Corporation as a Cadet Engineer in 1980 and rose to Chief Engineer of a Ship in 1991. Meanwhile he achieved his ‘Certificate Competency as Class 1 Marine Engineer’ from UK in 1989.
