Inna lillāhi wa innā ilayhi rājiʿūn
إِنَّا لِلّهِ وَإِنَّـا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعونَ
“Indeed, we belong to Allah, and indeed, to Him we shall return.”

Captain Anisur Rahman had been battling prolonged health challenges with remarkable fortitude and dignity. In March 2021, he was flown to Singapore for a major surgical procedure. Although the operation was successful, he continued to struggle with his health in the years that followed. Throughout this difficult period, he remained composed and resilient, embodying the quiet strength that had defined his life and career.

A proud alumnus of the Bangladesh Marine Academy, Captain Anisur Rahman was deeply respected among his peers and juniors alike. He leaves behind countless pleasant memories cherished by generations of BMA alumni. His professionalism, broad-mindedness, and humane leadership left an enduring impression on all who had the privilege of sailing or working with him.

Captain Khairul Anam (9N), recalling their shared days at sea, wrote:

“Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilaihi Rajeun. I am deeply saddened by this news. May Allah grant him Jannatul Ferdous. My deepest condolences to the bereaved family.
I had the pleasure of sailing with Anis Bhai on Banglar Sampad in 1975, when he was the Second Officer and I was the Fourth. He was a very smart and broad-minded officer, respected by his juniors and liked by all. He had a very pleasant personality and was lovely to work with.”

Beyond his seafaring career, Captain Anisur Rahman remained actively involved in Bangladesh’s shipping industry. He lived in Gulshan, Dhaka, where he also maintained his professional office, continuing to contribute to the maritime sector with dedication and integrity.

At present, his mortal remains are being preserved at the hospital morgue, awaiting the arrival of his daughter from the United States. Funeral arrangements and other details will be announced in due course.

Captain Anisur Rahman’s passing marks the loss of a distinguished mariner, a valued colleague, and a gracious human being. He will be remembered for his calm demeanor, professional excellence, and the warmth he extended to everyone around him.

We pray that Almighty Allah grants the departed soul eternal peace in Jannatul Ferdous and gives strength and patience to his family during this time of profound grief. Ameen.
