Eid Mubarak

Unfortunately, there are no Eid celebrations for Captain Mahbubur Rahman and the crew of Meghna Prestige. The Captain remains in custody, and the vessel, which was initially scheduled to sail, has been held back due to objections from the plaintiffs. The situation is becoming increasingly complex, now being treated as a criminal case, which introduces additional uncertainties.

Earlier today, I had the opportunity to speak with Captain Mahbub and wished him Eid Mubarak. I advised him to explore, through his legal counsel, the possibility of attending a mosque or congregation to perform his Eid jamaat. It is deeply disheartening that he finds himself in custody during this joyous occasion, away from his family, colleagues, and the seafaring community.

On behalf of the Bangladesh Marine Academy Alumni Association (BMAAA) and the greater maritime fraternity, we extend our heartfelt prayers for Captain Mahbub and his crew. We stand in unwavering solidarity with our alumni and fellow Bangladeshi seafarers who are enduring this difficult time.

May justice prevail, and may they soon find relief from this ordeal.
