As per a message from Captain Faisal Azim, we learned that Capt. Robin Laskar (19N) passed away in the early morning of 4th March 2025 at Ottawa General Hospital, Canada, after a battle with cancer.
Inna Lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un. We pray for his departed soul. May Allah grant his family the strength to endure this untimely loss of a fine man
Capt Mofiz was diagnosed with liver cancer a few months ago, condition is worsening day by day. He was in palliative care in Canada. He was not able to talk at all.
If he owes anything to someone, please come forward. His batch mates extend their hands to help.
Robin joined Transport Canada in the Pacific region in Sept 2019, after a long and successful career as a Captain in the marine industry. In October 2022, he relocated to the NCR, where he showed great adaptability to writing policy. He was instrumental in the modernization of the Cargo Inspection program and worked effectively with colleagues across Canada to ensure all views were represented in the new program. Throughout his work with TC he made lasting relationships and exemplified what it is to be a good colleague.
The funeral arrangements are as follows:
The janazah prayer will be held on Thursday, March 6th, 2025, at SNMC Masjid, 3020 Woodroffe Ave., after the Zuhur prayer at 12:30 PM.
The burial will take place afterward at Ottawa Muslim Cemetery, 1668 Manotick Station Rd. K4P 1M9
