Capt. Kazi A.B.M Shameem (24N) has recently joined the Bangladesh High Commission in London as the Councellor (Maritime affairs) under Maritime Affairs Wing. This appointment is the first ever by the Bangladesh government created by the Administrator of the Ministry of Shipping with the approval of the Prime Minister. He will represent Bangladesh as an alternative permanent representative (APR) to the International Maritime Organisation (IMO).

Captain Shameem will coordinate the maritime affairs of Bangladesh besides other day-to-day affairs and will report to the High Commissioner of Bangladesh High Commission in London.

Captain Shameem is a graduate of Bangladesh Marine Academy and has a sea career of 18+ years(1990- early 2009) and pursued a 2nd career at the shore in the academic field since 2009, He served as Senior nautical instructor, Head of the nautical department and deputy Commandant of Marine Academy, Chittagong. 

He also served as founding commandant of Bangladesh Marine Academy, Sylhet.

Captain Shameem had an excellent career in the training of cadets at the Academy. His education and vast experience in the maritime industry will serve the maritime interests of Bangladesh well.
