Our C.F. Zaman from second batch (engineering) reported the demise of Captain Syed M. Fatmi (2N). Captain Fatmi expired at 7 PM on 27 February 2021.

He was suffering from about a month back and was in and out of hospital. But at the end he succumbed to his Covid affliction. He developed kidney complications lately and was in hospital. He was put on the ventilator a couple of days back. May Almighty Allah grant him an abode in Jannat ul Ferdous.

A short brief about Captain Fatmi

Captain Fatmi serves as Master on MPP, Oil Tankers, Bulk carriers, Container Ships, Ro-Ro and Reefer ships. Experience as Instructor at Pakistan Marine Academy, Institute of Maritime Studies, and Karachi teaching Shipboard Operations, ECDIS, MRM, and Ship Security Courses etc for over 8 years. Operations Manager of Marco Trade, Geneva in Nigeria in 1980 – 81. General Manager, Pak Shaheen (Pvt) Ltd., Karachi, agents for Jugolinija Container Services 1987 – 89. In charge of agency operations, marketing and off-dock container terminal. General Manager and Chief Executive Mecmar Managements (Pvt) Ltd., Karachi 1992 – 97 in charge of agency operations, marketing, cargo and ship brokerage. Director Operations of Terra-Marine Agencies (Pvt) Ltd., Karachi 2013 till his death.
