MESSAGE FROM CAPT. M A JALIL, PRESIDENT BMAAA
MESSAGE FROM CAPT. M A JALIL, PRESIDENT BMAAA

5 December 2019
Assala-Mu-Alaikum.
It is me and our unification team’s pleasure to present you all with a unified alumni ‘Bangladesh Marine Academy Alumni Association’ (BMAAA). The concept of forming an alumni association was conceived as far back as 2005 but it took various routes and after crossing lot of hurdles leaders of both associations set down in good faith, which culminated in this unified body.
An alumni association is an association of former students and in our case, cadets who graduated from BMA. I urge the alumnus to join hands and put their resources together and vigorously pursue activities that will benefit our great institution and the cadets who study there and eventually will graduate from there. Additionally, we must help create a legacy that will be emulated by the generations of cadets who will pass through this academy in the future. This will require a lot of dedication and pride from us.
Bangladesh Marine Academy is a historical institution and should be protected from malign and encroachment from subversive activities. This is extremely important for us to keep in mind that we will eventually get old and pass away, but our legacy will remain. This is an institution that should be your priority to uphold so that all Bangladeshis are proud of this entity and hold it dearly to their hearts and minds. Let’s not dilute the concept by comparing it to any other commercial body or a competing academy that could be duplicated elsewhere in this nation. BMA is the only One and that is situated in the banks of the Karnafully River in the mouth of the Chottogram Harbour.
Today, I plead to the alumni to take an oath to work selflessly to improve the image and effectiveness of BMAAA. The only alumni association for cadets of the only academy that was established in 1962. We must work hard to thwart any coercive action that will diminish the stature of this respected establishment. The academy has a stable administration under the excellent stewardship of the present Commandant MarEngr. Sajid Hussain and very active academia, some of whom graduated from this very institution. We should fully support them and help them continue their work to produce well rounded maritime professionals who will lead the industry’s future.
Wish all alumni of BMAAA good health and a very Happy New Year.
Captain M A Jalil
President, BMAAA.
