Indonesian Bulker With 25 Crew Members Disappear

A 52,000dwt Indonesia-flagged bulk carrier Nur Allya bulk is missing after the crew reportedly sent a distress call on Sunday.
The bulk carrier owned by Jakarta based Gurita was en route to Indonesia’s Sulawesi province and was carrying nickel ore.
The distress signal was made while passing near Buru Island in the Banda Sea.

Search and rescue operations are underway for the vessel and 25 crew, however, poor weather conditions have hampered efforts to locate the vessel.
Cargo liquefaction is feared as there has been no signal from the vessel.
Some media reports indicate that cargo liquefaction is a possible cause for the vessel’s distress.
