BMMOA Election 2019-20

The Election Sub-Committee for the BMMOA Election 2019-20 has declared the winners for the BMMOA Election held in Chittagong and Dhaka on 05, 06 and 07 April 2019 for the Executive Committee of the BMMOA for 2019-20.

The election was delayed by about one year owing to an attempt by several members to manipulate the election. An enquiry was conducted and a fresh election commission was set up to maintain a fair and free election that resulted in the following slate of new officers.

Following are some of the comments made by several members.

Dear colleagues,

We note the results of the long awaited BMMOA elections and congratulate Captain Anam Chowdhury and the others who have been duly elected. We wish the elected panel the very best and entrust them with leading the association forward.

For those who did not win, please note our respect for you remains validated since you tried to offer your services for the betterment of the mariners. We will expect you will continue to offer your services to the organisation. To be successful, every member of the association must contribute towards the greater cause, over and above individual aspirations.

It is also the time to bid farewell to Captain Zillur Bhuiyan and his committee, with utmost respect and gratitude, for all they endeavoured to do and complete. Their contribution should remain on record.

We should also offer our immense gratitude to the Election Commission led by F. Zaman. Your dealings and code of conduct have been exemplary, with an unbiased strength of character, shown against the many obstacles which you may have faced in discharging your responsibilities.

Too all members, you have made us proud. From afar, we see the progress you, our fraternity, has been making. You have shown exemplary maturity and decorum throughout the process and many other industries will try to follow your footsteps. You have proven that we can agree, even when we sometimes disagree, for a greater cause. May the fraternity progress further in this new wave of spirit and co-operation.

Best wishes to all,

Capt. Ghulam Hussain (11th)

It is almost 28 years that I left Bangladesh. However, at heart I still remain a Bangladeshi – a Bangladeshi seafarer. I also share my knowledge and experience with my mariner friends and colleagues frequently. Today I would like to say a few words about the recent election.

I still remember how a few individuals wanted to manipulate our election because of which it got delayed perhaps by a year or so. We put that behind and eventually held an election. I closely observed most of the communication and I am very happy to say that our members proved very sensible and the standard of communication was generally very high. I would like to extend my greetings to Mar. Engr. Zaman and his party for conducting the election in a very fair, professional and ethical way. At this point I also like to put on record the performance of the out-going office bearers. It was during their period that we really felt that we had an organisation known as BMMOA. Mistakes are bound to be there but when compared to achievements, we must say that the out-going cabinet did wonderful. Thanks again. Finally I congratulate the newly elected office bearers. They are all eminently competent and capable persons. I am sure they will carry forward the torch to newer horizon. Amen!

Best wishes to all.

Fazlur Rahman Chowdhury

Subject: [BDMariners] BMMOA election 2019-2020, note of thanks.

Dear Members,

Aslamualikum and Greetings.

Regarding our recent BMMOA election I would like to write few words. First of all, hat’s off to the Election Commission team for successfully conducting the election, which were long due and eagerly expected by all members.  Zaman sir, Mozumder sir and Shamim sir you all have set an example, which shall remain as reference for future.

I would like to thank all members who took their valued time to vote and made the election process a success. About 35% of the listed voters casted their physical vote, extra ordinary participation, record in BMMOA history. Thanks to the other members home & abroad who monitored, shared their views during the entire election period. A keen interest was shown by mariners around the world about election, it reflects their love to BMMOA.

Then I would like to tank all candidates who participated in the election. BMMOA executive members’ responsibility is a voluntary  job. With the work load of professional life and family responsibility, we have very few time to spare, still a good number of  candidates participated for such voluntary  service, it shows their dedication to BMMOA. Their should be no doubt about their intention to serve the community.

All members of the last EC, as a part of them, i know what hurdle they had go through. Zillur Sir and Arif Sir did best of them to lead us in every odd situation. Under their leadership BMMOA had gained a pace, which need to be maintained.

Now It’s the responsibility of the elected candidates to execute their commitments and work for the community. In this regard I believe that other candidates can help a lot, we require your co operation to work as a team and proceed forward. Together we can solve our crisis, achieve our agenda and set up an example of unity.

May Almighty help us to take BMMOA to the next level, which was founded by our great seniors.
