Ali Azgar (51 BMA) killed in a road accident

BMA alumni Mr. Ali Azgor (51 BMA) died in a road accident in Argentina today. He was on his shore leave. He just started his sea career and sailed aboard a cargo vessel to Argentina.

Inna lillahi wa Inna ilaihi rajiun.

It is understood that he joined M.V. ASIA PEARL V. It was a bulk carrier, IMO no. 9502788, Flag: Singapore, Dwt: 35358 t, Built: 2010 and operated by ASIA MARITIME PACIFIC SHANGHAI.

He joined on board by a joint arrangement of two manning agents, one from Bangladesh, name “Marine Hive Ltd” and another one from China, name- “Circle Ocean International Shipping Limited ”.

We understand,  the company/agent will pay only USD$2500 as a compensation to the victim’s family. It is suggested that BMMOA and BMAAA should keep an eye into this issue so that Ali Azgar’s family can get proper compensation as per MLC/ITF regulations and company insurance policy. BMMOA should contact to Bangladeshi agent Marine Hive Ltd. and Azgar’s family about the compensation details. BMMOA and BMAAA can offer necessary legal support to Azgar’s family which will be a great support for them. Since the vessel is Singapore Flag, Bangladeshi Mariners in Singapore should also look explore possibilities of additional compensation.
