WATCH: Sketchy Pilot Transfer Arrangement

Check out the video below showing preparations for a pilot transfer at the Port of Sines in Portugal. The video was posted online on Wednesday with the caption:

This is the new breed of seamen… When you ask for a good lee, that´s what you get… What about the safety of this 2nd Mate? Communications? No words to express, and believe me, it was worst before my colleague picked up the mobile phone…

In the comment section of the video the uploader added the ship in this case was doing about 6 knots and there was a 3 meter swell.

The ship in the video appears to be the MSC Julie, which departed Sines on Thursday according to AIS data.

The video has been shared over 560 times since yesterday.

Pilots can always decline boarding for safety concerns, so we’re assuming the transfer happened once the conditions calmed down a bit.
