Dear Dilwar

Thank you very much for the posting of the picture. Immediately, my brain started winding back my memories in Late 1960 of a group of young mariners of National Shipping Corporation, Pakistan. They are Soli F Sethna(chief engineer) , Saulat Majid Khan(Chief officer) and myself as senior Electrical Engineer and Captain who’s name, sorry, my brain could not recollect. We all sailed on newly build semi automated ship “Terbela” along with few guest members from NSC executive board and  management team. Among them Mr Zubair from commercial department (who later became regional manager UK of Gulf east ), wife of CM H Khan, of Pakistan Navy(later became chief of Bangladesh Navy). Our stop was in Basra(Iraq) to Load dates for USA. Our agent was Gokla  Group of company very well known Iraqi company formed by migrated Indian family over many generation in Iraq.

During Saddam regime, this group went into shipping business and many genius people like Saulat Majid Khan ,Mr. Zubayer Ahmed  from NSC were recruited to manage,and operate the new shipping company “Gulf East”. These talented management team moved this shipping company to a  well known shipping company.

I also had the opportunity to work under many successful management people of NSC. Some of them are captain M.J Syeed , commercial Director commodore Ashef , engineering superintendent and captain M.H Baig , Marine Superintendent.

Year 1970 was my best year of my life. This  year I was offered  to join the new shipping company ” Neptune Orient Line( Singapore national shipping company). Captain MJ Sayeed was Managing Director. He was appointed by Mr Lee Kwan Yee, then prime minister of Singapore. Mr. Soli F Sethna also joined this company as Engineering Superintendent. He came to Dhaka to meet his friend Commodore M. H Khan. Mr . Sethna  came to my elder brother house where I was spending holiday and left a message for me to fly to Singapore immediately to join Neptune Orient lines.
