Dear Capt. Fazlur,
Thank you for the kind words, prayers and condolences. Papa was a great mentor, and loved his cadets, colleagues, friends and family to bits. Often he used to reminisce with pride the achievements of the Juldia academy cadets, and felt so content and happy whenever he heard any news about you all.
He left an unforgettable mark on all, whom he touched in any way during his beautiful life and remarkable career.
While working with General Electric, as Bangladesh was part of my regional responsibilities, I did visit Juldia academy in late 90’s, and saw with pride the campus Papa had spent many years building and nurturing. A fantastic institution that had prospered and progressed over the years.
Would much appreciate it, if you could pass on our gratitude to your colleagues of Juldia academy for their sentiments and condolences they have offered, which I received in a consolidated form from the Merchant navy community, but did not contain email addresses, hence could not respond.
Thanks again for sharing papa’s sweet memories, and his individual attention towards yourself and his love for you. I am sure, he must have been very proud of you becoming an examiner for mariners. God bless you!
My mother, sisters and brothers join me in thanking you, for your kind condolences. We are three brothers and two sisters, I am courtesy copying them in this email. Our eldest sister Mussarat whom you met at Juldia, is a principal at Newlands Beacon House school system in Lahore.
It will be a pleasure, and I look forward to meeting you in person, while visiting London.
May God rest papa’s soul in eternal peace.
Wa’ Salam, and with Warm regards,
Zafar Shah

Dear Zafar,
My name – Fazlur Rahman Chowdhury. I was a student of the first batch of the marine academy. The history of the academy started with your father as a teacher and I as a student. He loved me very much. He made me a cadet captain. He earlier worked with Pan-Islamic and arranged for me to join Pan-Islamic where I worked until the sad separation. In my professional career I respected him more than anyone else. May Allah grant his departed soul eternal peace and a place in heaven.
If your mother is still alive, kindly convey my regards to her. You can also say hello to your senior sister who was only 3/4 years old in 1962-63.
I retired as Deputy Chief Examiner of UK-MCA and now live in London. Please visit us anytime you come to London. Best wishes.
