A huge breakthrough in the employment of Academy Cadets
A well-known ship management company “Ocean Tankers – Singapore” has decided to employ 30 Cadets (15N & 15E) of Bangladesh Marine Academy. It is the result of dedication of a few marine Academy alumni residing in Singapore who have Bangladesh Marine Academy in their hearts. Few of the service holders in Ocean Tankers namely, Capt. Ghaji Abu Taher (17th), MarEngr. Abdul Baten (18th), Arifur Rahman Khan (24th), Capt. M. Masud Karim Hasan, Capt Md. Imran Kalam (Suptd) & MarEngr. Mohd. Mafizul Islam Bhuiyan (25th – Technical Manager), who were instrumental in this achievement deserve our salutation and pride. There were others as well and numbers are growing.
Our Commandant Sajid Hussain (15th Engineer) visited Singapore recently and met with the high officials of Ocean tankers (Mr. Poh Soon Ong) who received him and the Academy with open arms. This meeting was arranged by the alumni who work in Ocean tankers.
If this continues with other shipping companies, we will see a dawn in the Marine Academy employment situation which at present, is very dark and hopeless. Sprouting of private academies in dozens have created a bad atmosphere in the marine community. Bangladesh Marine Academy with a history of many years deserves to be saved and operated with utmost care. Our government and the alumni in particular should work together to bring the glory back by contributing their time and efforts for a positive outcome.
A well-deserved congratulation to our alumni from Singapore. All alumni throughout the world should join hands to work with the leadership of the Singapore group. It is one of those finest moments when we feel proud to be Bangladeshi and especially proud as an alumni of a great Academy.
