Dear Sirs,

I would like to inform you that a Maritime Forum has been formed by the following organisations of the maritime industry of Bangladesh:

  1. Alumni Association of Bangladesh Marine Academy (AABMA)
  2. Association of Maritime Training Institutions of Bangladesh (AMTIB)
  3. Bangladesh Merchant Marine Officers’ Association (BMMOA)
  4. Bangladesh Ship Manning Agents Association (BSMAA)
  5. Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST)
  6. The Nautical Institute Bangladesh (NIB)

This Maritime Forum is formed to focus on the common core issues of the maritime industry of Bangladesh and make concerted efforts to resolve the difficulties faced, with the support and cooperation of related Government bodies and expedite the process without repeated approach to the authorities by each of the organizations.

The copy of the MoU signed by the organisations is attached to this mail for your kind information.
We assure you of our best cooperation from this forum in resolving shipping and maritime issues of Bangladesh and look forward to be of support to you.
Thanking you

Dear All, Assalaamu Alaikum,

You must have seen the press release & news articles (even though all may not be fully correct). But it is fact that many of our (most likely 45th, 46th, 47th & 48th Batch) junior fellow Mariners are doing things from their own & in my personal opinion, they are very much lack of guidance.

We cannot blame them, they are not at fault, they are all swimming at the middle of the deep ocean & trying to grab whatever they see floating around them without realizing the end results.

We all sincerely hope some positive results for all these young fellow Mariners, but we all are not sure how long it will take!!!

Let’s try our very best with whatever resources we have now.

I would like to humbly request:

1) Our “Maritime Forum” will scrutinize all our suggestions (Bangladeshi Mariners around the globe incuding Australia, Bangladesh, Canada, USA, UK, Singapore, Middle East, Far East and many more).

2) Consider all these suggestions & finally come-up with their mutually agreed best option to transform into a action plan.

3) As & when deemed necessary at the sole discretion of Maritime Forum, time to time will update all of us through this “Bangladeshi Mariners – Our Common Communication Platform” so that we can understand our Maritime Forum’s decision/action plan & share our views in return.

With Best Wishes

Baten (18th Batch, Singapore)
