Item 1 : BMMOA election held violating the existing constitution
Item 2 : Objectionable letter sent by email

Item 1 : An election for the Chairman, General Secretary & other Executive Committee members of the BMMOA was held recently violating the existing constitution of Association. Such activity has been condemned by the SMF, for certain conflicting issues in the election circular, such as:
Only Master Mariner & Chief Marine Engineer can be a candidate for the post of Chairman & General Secretary in the Association.

The candidate must have a working experience of at-least 2 years in their respective job.
Candidate must have at-least 5 years membership in the BMMOA.
Mariners who have not sailed for last 5 years will not be allowed for candidacy.
The above mentioned criteria are in conflict with the interest of the membership of BMMOA and as such the result the recent election of BMMOA has been considered unacceptable by the SMF & a re-election to be held shortly.

Item 2: An unpleasantt email has been sent to the members of BMMOA, in which the senior members has been identified as inactive and incompetent in following up BMMOA matters. Such abusive e-mail has been criticized by the SMF & such insulting statement has been considered unacceptable & shall not be tolerated under any circumstances. It has been decided that source of such activity shall be traced down & brought to trial.

Resolution of the meeting: The SMF called for an immediate meeting with the existing Chairman, General Secretary and Executive Committee members of the BMMOA on Thursday, 13th May 2010 at 1900 hrs, Venue: BMMOA Office, NILOY, House No. 143/A, 1st Floor, Road No. 17/1, CDA R/A., Agrabad, where the above mentioned anomalies and irregularities are to be sorted out in presence of the BMMOA Executive Committee. Further it was discussed that a certain group of people creating such conspiracy in dark are to be identified urgently for discontinuation of their activity of deviating from the interests of the BMMOA. They are to be cautioned that any major decision & implementation of BMMOA policy must be constitutional and acceptable to the merchant marine community both afloat and ashore.

    This story is not true. More than 50% non-Juldians stepped into Australia either as an immigrant or student. Capt. Cook from Bangladesh was non-juldian migrated to Melbourne. Till today more than 20% mariner are non-juldian. However, what does it make a difference whether Juldian or Non-Juldian. Stop this nonsense.
