Urgent appeal: Please help to save Akhtar Hossain life
Dear respected all,
Assalamuwalikum / Greetings,
With a great concern we are pledging to extend every ones helping hand to our beloved friend Akhtar Hossain (22nd batch) to save his life. Presently he is going through a serious medical complication at Singapore. His misdiagnosis in Bangladesh and India brought him to the brink of death. Since doctors in India and Bangladesh could not find any abnormalities with his deteriorating health and excruciating pain he decided a week checkup in Singapore. Who knew that, this one week checkup will bring his life in long 5/6 months hospitalization and diagnosed with deadly unusual tumor in his liver. Due to the time killing medical checkup and visa process in Bangladesh / India his tumor grown in size to an unbelievable 20 to 22 cm, capturing his whole liver and destroyed his body defense system. As a result, (approx.) 190 LBS healthy (5’-9”) gentleman became a (approx.) 110 LBS skeleton, just within a matter of 4/5 months. One devastating situation aroused due to the fact that he left his two small kids (perhaps 11 and 4/5) back in Bangladesh with his elderly mother-in-law who is not quite capable enough to take care of them. (As Akthar’s parent deceased in 2000 and nobody to look after them), his 2 son’s school/education came into a halt for lack of financial support and appropriate (motherhood/fatherhood) care, as both parents went only for a week (for medical checkup) and that one week turned to a uncertain nightmare for these two innocent kids.
At the beginning Singaporean doctors left all hopes, because of tumor size was too large to be removed. Recent CT scan showed a promising result in reducing tumor size and the doctor proposed 2 options for a hope to reduce the size further before removing from his body. Option 1, to continue a medication in a tablet form, this tablet has a unbelievable price tag of nearly $100.00 a piece and prescribed 4 tablet a day for at least a couple of months. Option 2, implant / inject a radio isotope into the tumor, which is very risky and may take Akhter’s life to a point of no return, which we don’t anticipate. The preferable option is to continue with the tablet.
So far Akthar had a reason to believe that he would be able to handle his (unexpected) odds himself, and he did not anticipated this horrendous outcome just within a few months which brought his life/family/financial condition into a disaster. In fact Akthar took his own monstrous fight by himself so long (living in hotel + medical costs!! in Singapore), with whatever means he had. Akhtar is out of contract and getting no financial benefit from his company at all. The time has reached in a situation now for us to help him to save his life specially to keep him in our prayer/doa and ONLY ALLAH can help us. May Allah keep him safe and alive (aameen) Insa Allah. We believe if we can stand united to extend our helping hand with whatever capabilities we have, Allah will mercy us (Insa Allah) to bring Akhtar between us.
Recently (Sarwar, Shohail, Alamgir and Zillur in Singapore – 22nd Batch) contributed reasonable amount for immediate need, and placed him in Alamgir’s house to minimize hotel/food costs (many thanks to them). We are coming into a conclusion that they (are indeed a friend of need) will provide us a bank account in Singapore in favor of Akhtar. Besides our prayer and doa we are deeply requesting all concerns to extend their helping hand to save Akthar’s life (Insa Allah) by whatever available means, please. May Allah help us all, keeping safe and healthy and help Akhtar fastest recovery (aameen).
For accepting fund, we tried to open an account in Akthar’s name in Singpore bank, after investigation with the bank Sarwar Tarik found its not possible to open an account in Akhtar’s name unless he has a valid Singaporean work permit/pass. So, we decided to provide Sarwar Tariq Bank account for emergency use. Please send the fund to this account and email your transfer info to Sarwar Tariq so that he can keep a record of the fund can hand over to Akhtar or in Akhtar’s bank account (if possible to open).

Dear Farazi,
I am overwhelmed with the responses from our Aus mariners that shows how strongly emotionally we feel for a fellow mariner. May Allah make quick recovery of Akhtar.
We appreciate you taking lead in this difficult but humanitarian task.
Once again, I shall forward this appeal to all Bangladeshi mariners in Australia.
Kind regards
Dilwar Ali

Dear Sir,
I shall coordinate the collection from Australia and send this to my batch mate Sarwar who is presently handling the total global collection. As an immediate action we have now collected about AU$ 6000 from Australia and will send this to Singapore with Baten Sir, who is visiting Sydney now. Alhamdulillah we have got very substantial response from the whole marine community, especially from the 21st, 22nd and 23rd Batches of Marine Academy.
Reaz and Jafar at Port Hedland, Shafiq Bhai in Melbourne, Amin bhai in Perth, Beruny at Gladstone, Nazmul and Farid Bhai in Sydney have worked hard to spread this message and collecting on a zonal basis, i.e. NSW, Victoria, Queensland etc.
I am providing my below account detail for this collection in Australia:
Name: Md Hasan I Farazi
Account No: 10136060
BSB No: 06 2407
Please if you can talk to any ex-cadets from Marine Academy in Australia and if anybody interested, please provide him my bank detail for the contribution for this purpose. Please remind them to include name, batch and purpose in the transaction so that we can keep account of this.
Please pray to Allah for the quick recovery of Akhtar.
Best regards.
