Dear all,

Aktar Hossain from 22nd Batch has been detected with tumor in liver and undergoing treatment in Singapore. It has been ongoing since July, but most of us were unaware of it. The treatment is very expensive and unfortunately his condition is not good now.

Coming 20th November 2013, doctors at Raffles Medical Centre, Singapore will examine him further; and there may be some update of his current conditions.

Kindly pray his early recovery.

  1. Sir, since we shall have a fund collection drive using paypal to protest legally on the issue of Academy is being taken over by the Navy, can we also raise fund in a separately for Aktar Hossain sir (22nd) at the same time. I heard from multiple sources that he needs emergency fund to continue his treatment. On behalf of JMAAA we can raise the fund using the website using paypal or credit card. This is only a proposal and certainly do not want to deviate from the issue why the collection of fund was initially established.

    Dear Sir,

I never wished to post this type of mail but once again it is proved that things not in our hand and we are so tiny so vulnerable. At this point in time childhood school lesson comes in mind “man proposes while god disposes”.

Insha Allah, Akther sir ( 22nd Batch) will be recovered soon who is at present undergoing traumatic and expensive treatment in S ‘pore owing to advance stage lever tumor which is as big as 15 cm.

My batch mate Nizam commented, “At this stage personally I don’t like to consider it something more than advance stage tumor although different notion is there. Apart from conventional medical treatment he is taking Chinese herbal medicine as well.”

I spoke to him today, he appears to be a ‘Brave Heart’. He just wanted prayer from all of us. I know him very well, a person with very high level of empathy very shy to trouble anyone, he is a kind of individual who always manages to subside others pain with his innocent smile. Later I spoke to one of his batch mate Sarwar Tariq sir. Akhtar sir is suffering since June and getting his treatment in Singapore on his own anticipating to inform everyone once cured. I had word with many others those who are better informed about his condition. Undoubtedly he needs our support.

I don’t know how you have decided to support him but I made up my mind to offer him financial support. I know we all are busy to conquer financial hardship as ever but this category of hardship will chase the mankind till doomsday. Would you be able to contribute at least your salary of ONE DAY? Please…

Nizam(23rd) with his first hand information wrote,

“No matter whatever way you could help is welcome even a slimple phone call may make great difference to mitigate his pain. He is reachable @ (+65) 9120 8298 and able to respond on brief phone call but at times may face breathing difficulties while talking.”

    Dear Colleagues

We are receiving huge responses from the BD Mariners in UK regarding the funding appeal for Akhtar Hossain. On the first day of funding appeal we have been able to receive contribution from more than 10% of our BD Mariners UK members.

Our colleagues in Canada have raised in excess of $8000 within very short notice whch is quite appreciable and our target in UK is no less than that, therefore, please do not wait for the last moment as the time is running fast and we have to send the fund asap.

Please donate promptly to reach the target, Akhtar’s current treatment cost is approx $500 per day and it has to continue until his tumour is reduced to a size suitable for surgery.

    Thanks

    Dear Colleagues

Till today we are in receipt of about 40% of our target contribution for Akhtar Hossain. There are lots of commitment we have received over the phone, text, email and even face to face conversation which we expect to collect today and over the weekend.

In this instance, I must announce the name of Inamul Haque Bhuiyan (23rd) who has donated a handsome amount of £350 today which is the highest till now within the United Kingdom . We must declare him the Star Of The Day. Of course all donors are the stars but he is the star of the stars!!!

Please be motivated and inspired by Inam’s contribution and donate as much as you can. I believe, there are somebody who will try to defeat Inam and become the Star Of The Stars!!!

We understand everyone has some family commitments, budgets etc, but I request all to cancel your holiday, long drive, shopping and dining out and make some extra budget for this noble purpose.

Hope, our little handful of help will help cure Akhtar.

    Thanks

    Dear Abid,

Thank you very much for your prompt action in aid of Akhtar Hossain. In this connection I would like to remind you that there should be some fund available with the Merchant Navy Officers Benevolent Fund of which I am a life member. Unfortunately, I never hear of any activity of this fund or any statement thereof. Since this fund is more than 25 years old, there should be substantial amount available for helping people like Akhtar Hossain. Please do let me know if you know anything about this fund, as I do not know who are managing this fund on our behalf.

    Kind regards

  9. Dear All, Salam,

Akhtar left Singapore for Bangladesh today at 4pm by Biman.
He will go to Chittagong via connecting flight from Dhaka.

Just to update you, Akhtar visited doctor in Mount Elizabeth yesterday.
Doctor of Mount Elizabeth gave him positive & very good hope.
He is not taking any pain killer as there is no pain now. He is feeling good.
He has bought medicine for two months and will be keeping communication with doctor from Chittagong home.

After 45 days he will return back Singapore for follow-up checks.
Request all our SMC brothers to keep Akhtar in your daily prayers.
Akhtar expressed his heartfelt gratitude to all of you here in Singapore & around the globe including Australia, USA, UK, Canada, Bangladesh & many more for your kind & generous support towards the great cause that made us enable to continue his treatment here in Singapore.

All the contribution collected from around the globe is now in our SMC account which is under my custody.
Fund will be utilized for Akhtar’s further treatment.

    Dear Oversea Brothers, Salam,
Please convey Akhtar’s heartfelt gratitude to all Bangladeshi Mariners around the globe for their kind & generous support.
