Captain Prodip Anwar :
Superlatives aside, I shall continue to remember Prodip Bhai as an exceptionally polite, good natured and thorough gentleman. A man of wisdom with a PR above and beyond the normal. A merchant navy officer of the highest calibre and professionalism as indicated by the well reputed companies he has sailed for. He remains a hero figure for all aspiring officers of the Merchant Navy, steadfast, resolute, demanding but fair, an asset for any ownership and fleet. He exuded confidence without heroics and his strength was utmost integrity in his profession. Loyalty to his ship, his crew, his friend and colleagues were exemplary.
His commitment and duty towards family remains a testament to be emulated. I have seen him closely in South Shields when he and Swapna were expecting their first born. Prodip always welcomed you with a warm and firm handshake and Swapna, with her smile. He summed it all with the duet he sang frequently with Swapna, “Tere mere milan ki ye raina”.
I remember him, larger than life, attending a Cadet College Re-union when I was an aspiring student unsure of which profession to choose. I tend to believe his very presence was instrumental in many ways to guide many aspirants towards the merchant navy profession.
A suitable and deserving obituary for Prodip would be an impossibility since there is far too much to say. Doing justice to his epitaph would be failing since there was so much of goodness and well being in his one single soul and spirit.
All we do need to know is that his life was aptly a flame, which radiated an aura and lightened all those who came in close touch with him. Before being extinguished, this flame has lit up innumerable smaller flames through which his legend continues , in the life and spirits of the very many who looked up towards him.
We cherish and bid farewell to a man who endured, with dignity and courage. He has taught us humility and graciousness and showed us how to live life in its fullness. He was so proud of us, little did he realize how much prouder we were of him. We hold him close to our hearts and pray his family has the strength to endure his loss.
His memory and legend will live on despite the flame being extinguished. As will his legacy.

Dear All,
As you may have already known that our beloved Capt. Prodip Anwar left us for eternity on last Friday in Australia.
Yesterday (Saturday), his namaaj e Janaaja was held at the Doncaster Town ,Victoria Province (Australia) and he was buried in a local cemetery.
Today (Sunday) , the community ,friends and family have organised a Qulkhani and Milad for him.
Prodip Bhai, or Capt. Prodip, was the way, he was fondly known to many of his fellow mates, juniors or senior colleagues, who knew him for his extra ordinary community and socio-cultural activities, in which he was always in the fore front, where ever he used be.
In this file photo ,(taken in the year 1965, some 48 years ago from now, when he was about seventeen years of age, taken from a drama play titled “Midsummer Nights Dream” by Shakespeare, staged in the Auditorium of Faujdarhat cadet college, Chittagong, Prodip Bhai on the left) depicts his early interest in co-curricular socio-cultural activities and the spirit of team building through such activities, in which he was engaged till his last days.
On this day of Qulkhani please pray for him.
Kind Regards

We are deeply saddened at the news of Prodip.s eternal departure (Innah…razeyoon)
May Almighty Allah provide him a place in Jannat and may his family find the strength to bear the moments and ever.
Prodip was one of the closest friend that I had. We both sailed in the same fleet of United Arab before going our ways. We again came closer during our Masters’ oral. I will forever treasure his memories. He was a man of principle who never lost sight of truthfulness and seeking fairness.
He was a true gentleman and genuine friend. I definitely lost a true friend in Prodip.
May Allah guide his departed soul and guide us all.

Dear All,

QUOTE
Some of you may already have heard the tragic news. I have known Prodip since we were teenagers, he in class VII and I in class VIII. We were even room mates for a brief period in Babar house. I am at a loss for words to express my personal anguish even though his long struggle against a debilitating cancer over a period of 20 years may have prepared us mentally for this final and almost inevitable turn of events.
Prodip was a man who personified “grace under pressure”. His courage and equanimity in dealing with his extreme physical adversity is a wonderful example which will be an inspiration to whoever came in contact with him.
May Allah look after him in the hereafter.
I am forwarding to all you two community bulletins which are self explanatory.
Best wishes

Deeply saddened by this news. I was talking about Pradip Bhai with Kaisar only last week and was supposed to phone him soon but he has left us before that. I have known him as a very broad minded gentleman for a long time, in fact since I was a cadet. Please convey my deepest condolences to Bhabi and the bereaved family and I pray for the departed soul.
Best regards

My homage to the departed soul. Would somebody confirm if Capt. Prodip Anwar was the son of Capt. Mustafa Anwar, who was a pilot of Indian Airlines Corporation during 1954 and authored a book on Civil Aviation in India.
I pray for the salvation of the departed soul. May Allah keep his soul in eternal peace. We all have to leave this beautiful world. This world is a transient place. May Allah stay beside other members of his family.
