(1) Onanda lake front on Canandaigua Lake. Swimming, fishing, picnic and hiking.
Onanda

Located on West Lake Rd. (County Rd. 16), Onanda is an exceptional and unique property about 8 miles south of the City of Canandaigua. It is 80 acres, seven of which are lakeside and includes 8 cabins, 2 pavilions, and 2 lodges available for rent. The 73 acres of hillside running along Barnes Road contain a two-mile hiking path, 3 pavilions, 3 cabins, winter sledding and over-flow parking.

“Onanda” is an Indian word meaning tall fir or pine, a symbol of strength and simplicity. The park has a rich history including its original purpose as the YWCA Leisure Time School, starting in the early 20th century, and the site of Camp Good Days and Special Times. It was purchased in 1989 by a cooperative effort of New York State and the Town of Canandaigua to improve recreational opportunities and public access to a Finger Lake. It was opened in 1990 to the public. Fishing, swimming, family picnics and gatherings have proven popular at this year round recreation area.

Sorry, no alcohol, pets (other than seeing-eye dogs), rollerblades or skateboards allowed in the Park. No bike riding permitted on lakeside. Also, no watercraft of any kind permitted to launch from or dock at the park, except as allowed between November and April. No weapons of any type allowed, and no excessive noise.

Shore fishing is allowed year round. Boat Launching is only permitted November 15th to April 15th, and is subject to availability. For more information on boat launching and fishing regulations contact the Town of Canandaigua’s Parks Maintenance Supervisor at 585-396-2752 or cell# 585-755-7213.

Swimming, picnicing, fishing, winter sledding and hiking the beautiful trails on over 80 acres, are all at your doorstep, or should be included in your travel plans when you visit Canandaigua.

Boat Cruises

Canandaigua Lady

http://www.steamboatlandingonline.com/

The Lady offers a variety of lake cruises, narrated sightseeing excursions to charter service, lunch cruises, as well as sunset dinner cruises.

The Canandaigua Lady is a 19th century replica of a double-decker paddlewheel boat operating from Steamboat Landing. The “Lady” is a proud successor to locally famous steamboats that operated on the Finger Lakes between 1820 and 1930. The sixty-ton Mississippi-style paddlewheel presents a nostalgic decor accented with teak and oak woods, brass fixtures, draperies and carpeting that fondly recalls days of yesteryear. At one time, there were 19 steamboats that operated as the primary means of transportation, as there were no roads along the lake at the time.

Reservations preferred for guaranteed seating.  Lunch and dinner cruises need to be booked 1-2 hours in advance.  Walk ups welcome if space is available.

Lunch Cruise: 12:00-2:00pm      (chef selection of deli favorites)  $ 27.00
