Messages:BD Mariners UK – Get Together 2009
Dear All –
Salam.
First of all – I would like to thank the Organising committee and the Chair – for their sincere effort for arranging such a great and successful event.
Also thanks to all – those who attended and made this re-union successful and was a great pleasure to see some faces whom I knew only by the names. It was indeed a tough challenge for Southampton committee to arrange this event in a place that is unknown to them and of course, away from their comfort place as well.
I would also like to extend thanks to others – who responded but could not join this time due to various reasons. I hope…next time…our missed fellow BD Mariners will make all efforts, so that we see you next time. Also those who did not response even..please join us next time make this event as a by-yearly mega event.
In few days time..I shall be sending you e-mail asking you to register to BD MARINERS UK yahoo group. Please save my e-mail: [email protected] to your address book so that the notification does not go as Spam e-mail. Once we have maximum number of BD MARINERS listed into that group, we shall use that as common platform for all future communications. Those who registers – will have access to all the past mails, event details, pictures / memories and will have option to blog about your whereabouts.
Also…to start with..I would like to propose a small fund development to be managed initially by total 3 person (1 person from each three regions – North – Mid – South UK). Those who agree – I propose a direct debit to be set up to an account ( I am ready to volunteer for a period until we really establish a formal account and the bearers) and deposit £5-00 each month. the money that will be collected can be used for charities that involves mainly for the fellow Bangladeshi Mariners with priority given to the members of the BD Mariners UK and then to other non-Member BD Mariners UK. Also an one of registration fee of £20-00 to be paid for the membership which would give benefit the members to enjoy a largely discounted re-union packages for future event / re-unions.
If you wish to volunteer and join the formal BD MARINERS UK, I shall forward you the account details for initial contributions over the phone.
The above are my starting thoughts…please feel free to comment…concerns etc.
Ma-Assalam

Dear all
Salaam
Zakir has kindly forwarded Khairul’s mail to me ( below). On behalf of the Organising Committee, I wish to thak Capt Khairul Anam for his wonderful gesture & kind words, that we may not deserve.
It was wonderful to see you all and to get so much support in every way. Thanks to Quasem bhai, Chisti bhai & his wife for hosting the Antaksari event. As I have said in my note, away from the comfort place of Southampton we ventured into unknown and may not have done as good as we wanted to. Our apology again for any shortcomings.
We hope future will bring us together again & again – to share & to care for each other.
Best wishes.

Dear All
I am sure all participants at the above get together at London would agree with me that we all had a great time on Saturday evening and Sunday all day amidst the company of fellow mariners and theirs wives and children from all over the UK. The time we spent together was full of joy and fun, it was a successful and memorable get together. We look forward to having similar events in the future again at regular intervals.
The organising committee did a spendid job in organising the 2-day event – to make it happen and make it a success. My sincere thanks to all in the committee and its chair – you have worked very hard indeed. It is not easy organising such an event but the committee has done it very well. Thanks to all who came to attend the gathering from different parts of the UK to make the event a success. Those who did not attend, they do not know what they have missed!
Finally my message to you again like what I said at the last gatherings – keep in touch. We are a very samll community in the UK and I think we now know each other. It is important that our relationship and bond grow stronger.
A big Thank You to the organising committee again.
Best regards
Khairul Anam
